Visiting Alanya on a Turkish Visa Online

Updated on Feb 13, 2024 | Turkey e-Visa

Best known for its scenic beaches, Alanya is a town that is covered in sandy strips and strung along the neighbouring coast. If you wish to spend a laid-back holiday in an exotic resort, you are sure to find your best shot at Alanya! From June to August, this place remains packed with north European tourists.

If you are not a big fan of sandy shores, well worry not, Alanya has plenty of other attractions for you too. The high cliffs at the peninsula harbour are an ancient castle district that is circled by a well preserved, sturdy stone wall. Once you go down by the harbour, you will come across the historic remnants that still prevail to this day, as they loom over a bay where lines of yachts rest, ready to take visitors on a trip to the sea. The best thing about Alanya is that it falls within a day-tripping distance of some of the Mediterranean district’s most famous tourist spots and ancient sites, so if you had enough of the sandy beaches and are in the mood to go out and explore, you will have no dearth of options to keep yourself entertained with.

However, the main problem that most visitors face is the mammoth task of deciding which attractions to visit and on which day - well, worry not anymore! In this article, we will share with you all the details that you need to know about visiting Alanya with a Turkish visa, along with the top attractions you must not miss out on!

What Are Some of The Top Places To Visit In Alanya?

Alanya Castle Alanya Castle

As per what we mentioned earlier, there are so many things to see and do in the city that you will pretty much need to cram up your itinerary as much as possible! Some of the most popular sightseeing attractions visited by tourists include Alanya Castle, The Alanya Harbor, and the Teleferik leading to Cleopatra Beach.

Alanya Castle

An age-old ancient wall that stretches for about six kilometers, the Alanya Castle trail looms over the modern part of Alanya below. Once you cross the walls, you will come across the old town district, which is arguably one of the most interesting areas in the city to explore. Dating back to the classical era, this peninsula was once a favourite of pirates. A hub of great historic importance, the fortifications were built under Greek rule, and it really took off in its role as a Mediterranean seaport in the Byzantine era.

The Old Harbor

By the harbourside, you will find the Red Tower (Kızılkule) and Seljuk Shipyard (Tersane), which are both extensions of the Alanya castle, built back in the 13th century. The 30 meters high, octagonal tower once served as a defence tower back in the Seljuk era, and the view from the top of the tower is guaranteed to take your breath away.

The Alanya Teleferik

If you wish to take the most entertaining ride to the Alanya Castle, then you need to hop on the cable car that connects the lower castle district of Ehmedek with Cleopatra Beach. The cable car runs from 11 am to 9 pm daily, and this trip is great to catch a scenic view of the sunset amongst the pristine coasts. Throughout the 900-meter ride, you will catch excellent views of the forest cliffs that lead up to the castle with a dusky mountain backdrop.
